Robert Royal

President, Faith and Reason Institute

Robert Royal is Founding President of the Faith and Reason Institute in Washington, D.C. and Former Vice President and Olin Fellow in Religion and Society at the Ethics and Public Policy Center. He has a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the catholic university of American and has taught at Brown University, Rhode Island College, and the Catholic University of America. He has been a Fulbright fellow in Italy and been awarded a fellowship by the Renaissance Society of America. From 1980 to 1982, he was editor-in-chief of Prospect magazine in Princeton, New Jersey.

Dr. Royal is a prolific writer and his books include 1492 And All That: Political Manipulations of History, Jacques Maritain and the Jews, A Century of Catholic Social Thought (co-editor, with George Weigel), Crisis and Opportunity: U.S. Policy in Central America and the Caribbean (co-editor, with Mark Falcoff), and The Virgin and the Dynamo: Use and Abuse of Religion in Environmental Debates. His article have appeared in numerous publications, including the Washington Post, the Washington Times, National Review, The American Spectator, First Things, and Crisis.
